Up Over and Down Under
Up Over and Down Under, Beginnings, Endings & Using Both Sides of Our Brain…
This trip has been full of paradoxes, juxtapositions and opposites and opportunities for looking at mirror images…
First off, flying out of the Midwest as the sun was setting on December 20th and into the sunset for hours…the longest sunset on one of the shortest nights of the year for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere…then changing planes in LAX to fly all night on this longest night…but crossing the international dateline to experience a sunrise that began around 2 in the morning (Sydney time) and lasted for hours until 6:30 or so. So experiencing the longest beautiful sunrise of colors streaking the black sky while flying over the dark ocean — another lovely experience.
The funny, and not so coincidental thing, is that I was flying t h r o u g h my birthday. Not getting a chance to celebrate the Solstice, and my 60th birthday!
There’s so much symbolism and spiritual geometry as well as scientific lessons here, Carmen.
As most of you know, I prefer the magical and mystical stories around it all.
I’m sitting here a week and a half later, getting ready to head to the beach for a swim or walk in the surf before heading to the bottle shop to get something to bring to the gathering tonite here in Sydney. We’ll be with family and friends in a place where we can get an excellent view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House during the fireworks. There’s still a few more pieces to complete my ritual for releasing 2016 (click here) and then it’s more about managing the crowds boarding the ferry to get into Sydney and jostle for best viewing spots.
And, I’m loving being where the traffic and signs and drivers all look to be on the mirror opposite of what we are used to seeing back home.
The differences in environment opens my mind, heart and soul widely and gently and invites me to see what I normally don’t see. Listening more deeply to the words spoken with a lovely accent tickles my ears and the bird calls that were once familiar, yet foreign to ours at home delights me too. Views of expansive skies and of the City across the Bay from our balcony or out at the ocean from the other direction are just what my mind, body and heart needed. My Soul? She knew all along to hold the space for creating this experience.
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2017 as you read this and let’s be more open about what is possible, join me?
